Hockey ACT is currently seeking expressions of interest from umpires and technical officers interested in nominating for the Umpire and Technical Committee, the body responsible for overseeing the umpiring and technical standards and development in the ACT.
Umpiring and Technical Committee responsibilities:
- Umpiring and technical standards and development
- Playing rules' interpretation
- Umpire and technical education
- Umpire and technical assessment
- Appointment of umpires for competition fixtures, championships and events where appropriate
- Umpire and technical officer pathways
Committee Management
The Committee is to be apointed by the Hockey ACT Board for a term of one year and must report regularly to a Board Director.
The Committee may co-opt people to serve on sub-committees to be responsible for various competition appointments and assessments.
The Competitions Coordinator will be an ex-officio member of this committee.

JOEY is a junior umpire development programs that aims to teach young people the skills of umpiring.
Started in 2008, the JOEY program consists of a number of theory sessions and practical sessions with the assistance of senior umpire coaches within the ACT with the ability for young umpires to attain a junior umpiring badge.
