
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR CLUBS
To ensure the smooth and compliant operation of a hockey club, a range of activities need to be done including the following:
- Provide leadership to the Club
· Set the current and future direction for the Club (e.g., is the Club planning on growing, staying the same size, changing to focus more on juniors, seniors, indoor, etc.).
· Provide a central point of contact for HACT (within the broader framework for Club communications with HACT).
· Represent the Club with HACT.
· Chair regular meetings that focus on the operations of the Club.
- Provide governance of the Club
· Liaise with HACT to understand changes to the governance framework of the Club.
· Chair regular meetings that focus on the governance of the Club.
· Ensure compliance with WWVP legislation and any other legislated requirements
3. Manage participation in HACT competitions (nominations, etc)
· Accept fees from players (or parents)
· Bank fees
· Pay HACT fees
- Coaching and Team Management:
· Organise and conduct training sessions, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants, particularly children and vulnerable persons.
· Communicate with players, parents, and other stakeholders to keep them informed about schedules, events, and any changes.
· Monitor and support the personal development of players, providing feedback and guidance as needed.
· Recruit and support coaches with technical matters and team coaching
· Recruit and support managers with revSPORT and player management
- Game and Event Preparation:
· Prepare and manage logistics for matches and events, including player coordination, equipment management, and venue setup.
· Ensure compliance with Hockey ACT’s competition regulations and safety protocols during training sessions, games, and events.
· Supervise junior competitions, ensuring that all team members, officials, and volunteers are fulfilling their roles in accordance with club policies.
- Record-Keeping and Reporting:
· Maintain detailed records of team activities, including training attendance, match results, and player development.
· Maintain detailed records of Club meetings.
· Report any incidents or breaches of club policies, particularly those related to vulnerable persons, to the club committee in a timely manner.
· Maintain records of communications with HACT
- Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:
· Facilitate communication between the club, players, parents, and the broader community to promote transparency and engagement.
· Communicate with HACT about complaints, financial matters, player development matters, and other matters as they arise
· Represent the club at external meetings, events, and community activities to build relationships with local organisations and stakeholders.
- Facilities and Equipment Management:
· Oversee the maintenance and proper use of club facilities and equipment, ensuring they are safe, clean, and available for all scheduled activities.
· Report any facility or equipment issues to the relevant parties for repair or replacement.
