2025 Chill Challenge
The 2025 Chill Challenge has wrapped up for another year.
With a new format and nomination process, we saw an impressive 83 athletes take the field across the 3 games with the majority competing for a spot in the 2025 Canberra Chill sides.
Not only was this the first look at the athletes for the Chill, it was also great preparation for the ACT U21 sides who are off to compete at the U21 National Championships from the 3rd – 10th of May.
For game 3, Livin For Hockey and Hockey ACT partnered to bring together a mini version of the Livin For Hockey Mental Health Round which is held in July each year. The round helps to raise awareness and reduce the stigma around Mental Health. The sides wore the Teammates For Life stickers on their jerseys. The stickers, along side the banners and the hashtag #TEAMMATESFORLIFE encapsulates the importance of looking after your own mental health and your teammates too.
The 2025 Livin For Hockey Slogan is “Mental Health Is A Game Changer”.
We would like to thank Pat O’Connor (Director of Livin For Hockey) and the Livin For Hockey Committee, many who played or coached in series as well for assisting with the round and helping to raise awareness.
Game 3 was also in partnership with SpaceQuake Sports who live streamed the matches for those who couldn’t attend the match and for those living in different parts of the country. We would like to thank David and the team for providing another incredible display.
During the final match, some of the teams wore black armbands. This was in memory of Michael “Pagey” Page, a well known and respected member of the Hockey ACT community and Central Hockey Club.
At 8:30pm on Tuesday 22nd of April, the teams, Hockey ACT community and members of the Central Hockey Club joined on the Carter Field and held a minute silence, the same time Pagey was being cremated in Singapore.
We would like to thank those who joined us to remember Pagey.
Finally, we would like to thank Andrew Castles from Art-Of-Motion Media and Lyle Holt from Lyle's Lens for coming out and capturing the games and to those who took photos from the sidelines.
