This weekend, Hockey ACT is proud to celebrate Pride Round 2026, marking nine years of recognising and supporting the LGBTQ+ members of the community.

From 26–28 June, clubs, players, officials, volunteers and supporters from across the ACT will come together to celebrate diversity, inclusion and the message that hockey is a sport where everyone belongs.

Pride Round holds a special place in the Hockey ACT calendar. As one of our four Rounds of Significance, it is an opportunity to celebrate the people who make our community stronger, while continuing important conversations about creating safe, welcoming and inclusive environments for all.

What began in 2018 through the vision of Dan Borrett and the support of Old Canberrans Hockey Club has grown into a much-loved annual tradition. The introduction of the Fair Go Cup provided a platform to celebrate inclusion through hockey, and nearly a decade later, Pride Round continues to bring our community together both on and off the field.

While Pride Round is a celebration, it is also a reminder that inclusion requires ongoing commitment. Every player, coach, umpire, volunteer and supporter deserves to feel safe, respected and valued when they come to hockey. By creating environments where people can be themselves, we strengthen our clubs, our teams and our sport.

Hockey ACT is proud to continue leading the way in this space, recently retaining Platinum Pride in Sport status through the Pride in Sport Index. As the highest level of recognition available, Platinum status reflects years of work from clubs, volunteers, staff and community members who have helped make hockey in the ACT more inclusive for everyone.

Throughout the week, Hockey ACT will also be highlighting its Pride Ambassadors. These ambassadors play an important role in supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community, promoting understanding and helping ensure our hockey spaces remain welcoming and inclusive.

At its heart, Pride Round is about community. It is about showing people that they are welcome, that they belong and that they can participate in hockey as their authentic selves.

Hockey ACT encourages everyone across our community to get involved in Pride Round activities and continue championing inclusion throughout the year.

Together, we can ensure hockey remains a place where everyone feels safe, supported and proud to be themselves.
