HOCKEY ACT GOES ALL IN FOR RECONCILIATION ROUND
This weekend, Hockey ACT will proudly celebrate Reconciliation Round, recognising and celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our sport and community.
Held during National Reconciliation Week, Reconciliation Round provides an opportunity for the hockey community to come together, reflect on our shared history and commit to building a more inclusive future for all Australians.
The 2026 National Reconciliation Week theme, "All In", is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day. The theme reminds us that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that meaningful change requires all of us to play our part.
Reconciliation Round celebrations will take place at EPC Solar Hockey Stadium on Saturday, featuring a special program of cultural activities, community engagement opportunities and Capital League 1 matches.
The day will commence with the Capital League 1 Men's match between Wests and St Patrick's at 12:00pm before the community comes together for a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony and Didgeridoo performance from 1:20pm to 1:40pm.
The celebrations will continue with the Capital League 1 Women's match between North Canberra Eagles and St Patrick's at 2:00pm.

In addition to the on-field action and cultural ceremonies, Hockey ACT will host a range of community activities across the entire weekend. Participants and spectators will have the opportunity to take part in boomerang decorating activities and contribute to the Find Your Country Map Activity, encouraging members of the hockey community to learn more about the diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nations across Australia and reflect on the rich cultural heritage that continues to shape our country today.
These activities provide an opportunity for players, officials, volunteers, clubs and supporters to learn, reflect and celebrate the world's oldest continuing culture while recognising the important role sport plays in bringing communities together.
Hockey ACT remains committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants and continues to work alongside clubs, members and the broader community to strengthen relationships and create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within hockey.
We encourage all members of the hockey community to attend the celebrations, take part in the cultural activities and support the athletes as we come together to be All In for reconciliation.
National Reconciliation Week is held annually from 27 May to 3 June, commemorating two significant milestones in Australia's reconciliation journey – the successful 1967 Referendum and the 1992 Mabo Decision.
