ACT UNDER 14 BOYS TO PLAY FOR NATIONAL GOLD ON HOME SOIL

The ACT Under 14 Boys are set to play for national glory this afternoon, having secured their place in the Gold Medal Match at the 2026 Hockey Australia Under 14 National Championships.

In an outstanding achievement for ACT hockey, the talented young side will take to the field at EPC Solar Hockey Stadium at 4:00pm today (Saturday 10 October), with the opportunity to claim a national championship in front of a passionate home crowd.

The achievement marks a significant milestone for the ACT Under 14 Boys program, highlighting the strength of junior hockey development across the Canberra region and the dedication of the players, coaches and support staff.

Having claimed a bronze medal at the 2025 National Championships in Brisbane, the ACT boys have gone one better in 2026, earning the opportunity to compete for the ultimate prize on home soil.

Throughout the championships, the team has demonstrated tremendous determination, teamwork and resilience while competing against some of the country's most talented emerging hockey players.

The ACT Under 14 Girls have also delivered an outstanding campaign, showcasing the exciting depth of emerging female hockey talent across the ACT.

Competing against some of Australia's strongest junior hockey programs, the girls recorded six wins, one draw and four losses, demonstrating tremendous determination, skill and team spirit throughout the championships.

Their efforts saw them secure an impressive fifth-place finish, climbing four positions from their ninth-place result at the 2025 National Championships.

The significant improvement is a fantastic achievement for the playing group and coaching staff, highlighting the continued growth of the ACT's junior female development pathway.

Playing in front of family, friends and local supporters has made the experience even more special, with the girls representing the ACT with pride throughout the tournament.

With the national championships being hosted in Canberra from 4–10 October, the opportunity to compete in a Gold Medal Match in front of family, friends and the wider ACT hockey community makes the occasion even more special.
