CANBERRA CHILL SECURE A DOUBLE WIN IN HOBART

The Canberra Chill have secured a thrilling double victory over the Tassie Tigers in Round 3 of the One Active Hockey One League.

The Canberra Chill Men claimed a thrilling 4–3 victory over the Tassie Tigers in a tightly contested encounter that went down to the final moments.

The opening quarter saw both sides with attacking opportunities in an entertaining end-to-end contest. Davis Atkin opened the scoring for the Chill with an impressive first-time finish, before Darcy Macdonald added another, expertly deflecting home a penalty corner to give the Chill an early advantage.

The second quarter saw the Tigers threaten, but Chill goalkeeper Max Larkin produced an outstanding one-on-one save to deny Tasmania and keep his side in a strong position heading into half-time.

The Tigers responded after the main break, converting a penalty corner to put pressure on the Chill defence.

However, Canberra's attacking threat continued to shine, with Dylan Brick stepping up to deliver two crucial goals.

Brick first converted a penalty stroke before adding another from a penalty corner.

Despite Tasmania's continued attacking pressure, Larkin and the Chill defensive unit remained composed, producing several important tackles and intercepts to hold their advantage.

The final quarter delivered plenty of tension as the Tigers pushed hard for an equaliser. Larkin was again called into action, producing another important save as the Chill battled to maintain their lead.

With the match hanging in the balance, the Chill showed tremendous resilience and composure to see out the contest and secure a valuable 4–3 victory.

The Canberra Chill Women produced an impressive comeback performance to defeat the Tassie Tigers 4–2.

The Chill started with attacking intent, with Ruby Worrall leading an aggressive high press that placed immediate pressure on the Tigers' defensive line.

After a tightly contested opening quarter, Maya McGrath opened the scoring in the second quarter, celebrating her first Hockey One League goal to give the Chill the advantage.

However, Tasmania responded just before half-time, finding the back of the net to level the scores at 1–1 heading into the main break.

The Tigers carried their momentum into the third quarter, scoring again to take a 2–1 lead and place the Chill under pressure.

The Chill responded soon after, with Argentinian international Valentina Costa Biondi finding the equaliser before the Chill struck again late in the quarter to reclaim the lead at 3–2.

A 10-minute yellow card to the Tassie Tigers provided the Chill with an opportunity to capitalise on their momentum.

The final quarter saw Canberra continue to apply attacking pressure, with Costa Biondi converting a penalty corner to extend the Chill's advantage to 4–2 and complete her double.

A green card to Lynn Krings and Lauren Yee and a yellow card to Valentina Costa Biondi put the Chill under pressure but they remained composed and managed to close out the Tigers.

A disciplined defensive performance and smart game management allowed the Chill to run down the clock and secure an impressive 4–2 victory.

With two important wins on the board the Chill will return home and set their sights on next Friday’s match when they take on HC Melbourne on home soil at the EPC Solar Hockey Stadium.
