CALL FOR NOMINATIONS – APPOINTED FINANCE DIRECTOR

 

Nominations are open for one (1) Hockey ACT Appointed Director position – Finance Director.

Hockey ACT (HACT) is the governing body for hockey in the ACT, responsible for providing ACT member associations and clubs with the opportunity to participate in hockey from junior levels through to elite competition.

HACT is seeking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified leader who is interested in playing a lead role in steering the strategic direction of the sport, contributing to strong governance, and supporting Chief Executive Officer, Brent Clark, and the HACT staff.

 

Skills & Experience

The HACT Board regularly reviews the mix of skills, experience, and expertise across the Board to ensure alignment with the HACT Strategy, organisational priorities and contemporary governance requirements.

The Board has identified an opportunity to enhance its capability through the appointment of a Director with strong financial expertise and governance experience.

The preferred candidate will have:

Finance & Governance

  • Extensive experience as a finance professional, preferably with a CPA, CA or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience in financial governance, risk management, and internal controls.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting financial information at Board or senior executive level.
  • Non-Executive Director, Board or committee experience, with an understanding of governance responsibilities and fiduciary duties.
  • Ability to provide independent financial insight and constructive challenge to the Board.
  • Experience in strategic financial planning and supporting organisational sustainability.
  • Experience with audit, compliance and financial risk would be highly regarded.

 

General Skills

  • Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a Board.
  • An understanding of the responsibilities and obligations of a Director of an incorporated association.
  • A genuine interest in contributing to the ongoing development and sustainability of hockey in the ACT.

Experience in the sporting, not-for-profit, community, commercial or infrastructure sectors would be advantageous.

To meet this gender balance requirement, a female candidate must be appointed to this Director position.

 

Eligibility & Process

To be eligible for appointment, a nominee must demonstrate how they meet the desired skills, experience, and attributes to determine suitability for appointment to the HACT Board.

As this is an HACT Appointed Director position, candidates will be considered and appointed by the HACT Board in accordance with the HACT Constitution and applicable governance requirements.

Candidates are required to submit a current CV of no more than two (2) pages, and send to brent.clark@hockeyact.org.au

Candidates may also provide a brief covering statement outlining their interest in the position and the contribution they believe they can make to the HACT Board.
