Reconciliation Round

Published Fri 24 May 2024

Join us this weekend as Hockey ACT acknowledges and celebrates the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Hockey and to our community. Reconciliation Round celebrates the culture, histories and stories to ensure our First Nations Peoples legacy is highlighted throughout our competitions, events, and operations.

We are privileged to be joined by Aunty Violet Sheridan, Serena Williams and Greg Joseph as they walk us through important and meaningful cultural elements beginning on Carter Field at 1:20pm on Saturday 25th.

We invite a representative from all clubs to join us on the field during these celebrations and members to celebrate along with us at Lyneham Hockey Centre. We encourage teams playing in all Hockey ACT locations to take a moment before their game to acknowlege and pay respect to Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people and their elders, past, present and emerging.

We also invite all members to visit the Lakers/Strikers Room to decorate a hand which will be added to the Hockey ACT Sea of Hands over the weekend. The Sea of Hands is a small but powerful way we can show our support of First Nations peoples in our Hockey ACT and wider communities acknowledging their culture and promoting reconciliation...Now More Than Ever!
