Thank you, Craig Sloan

After nine years of outstanding service, six of those as the President, Craig Sloan has concluded his tenure on the Hockey ACT Board.

Craig leaves the role having made a significant and lasting contribution to the organisation and the broader hockey community across the ACT and surrounding regions. His leadership has helped shape a stronger, more sustainable and more connected future for the sport.

During his presidency, Craig guided Hockey ACT through one of the most challenging periods in its history. Through the uncertainty and disruption of COVID, he provided calm and considered leadership, ensuring the organisation remained stable, resilient and focused on supporting its community.

Under Craig’s stewardship, Hockey ACT experienced sustained participation growth, reaching record membership levels and expanding the reach of the sport beyond Canberra through strengthened regional relationships and engagement.

Craig also oversaw the development and delivery of multiple Strategic Plans, helping establish clear direction and strong organisational foundations across governance, participation, infrastructure, pathways and high performance. His commitment to long-term sustainability has positioned Hockey ACT strongly for the future.

A passionate advocate for the growth of the game at all levels, Craig championed initiatives that strengthened community hockey, supported clubs and volunteers, enhanced workforce and officiating development, and created more inclusive opportunities for participation.

His leadership also coincided with the continued evolution of the Canberra Chill and the broader high-performance pathway system, helping elevate the profile of Hockey ACT on the national stage while creating aspiration for future generations of athletes.

Craig’s contribution to Hockey ACT extends well beyond outcomes and achievements. He has led with integrity, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to the sport and its people.

On behalf of the Hockey ACT Board, staff, members and wider hockey community, we sincerely thank Craig for his dedication, leadership and service over the past six years.

His contribution to hockey in the ACT will leave a lasting legacy.
