Hockey ACT is seeking nominations for individuals to join the Community Heroes Committee.
Purpose of the Committee
The Committee plays an important role in identifying and celebrating individuals who embody the spirit and values of hockey in the ACT. Its primary function is to assess and recommend individuals who meet the criteria outlined in the Hockey ACT General By-laws for recognition as a Hockey ACT Community Hero.
The Committee provides recommendations only, with all final decisions regarding recognition made at the sole discretion of the Hockey ACT Board.
Committee Composition & Appointment
The Community Heroes Committee will comprise Hockey ACT members with a strong understanding of, and connection to, the local hockey community, including historical knowledge of individuals and their contributions.
All members are appointed by the Hockey ACT Board and may be removed at any time at the Board’s discretion.
To support continuity, initial appointments will be staggered, with half the Committee appointed for one-year terms and the remaining half for two-year terms. Following the initial establishment of the Committee, all future appointments will be for two-year terms.
Key Responsibilities
Committee members will:
- Assess Community Heroes nominations against established criteria.
- Prepare reports for the Board outlining whether nominees meet the required standards.
- Develop a prioritised list of individuals for consideration.
- Recommend the number of individuals to be recognised each year.
The Committee will comprise of at least five (5) members and a maximum of seven (7) members.
This is an opportunity to help acknowledge and celebrate the volunteers, contributors and leaders who shape and strengthen the Hockey ACT community.
