Hockey ACT is inviting our female coaches and officials to submit an EOI to participate in upcoming FIH Foundation and Development Courses (FIH Level 1 and Level 2).

These courses are designed to develop confident, skilled educators who can support the growth and quality of coaching and umpiring across the hockey community.

Hockey ACT are the proud recipient of an ACT Government Women's Coaching and Officiating Program grant, which will fund limited spots in Level 1 and 2 courses for female coaches, umpires and technical officials.

Places in these courses are limited. Applicants will be assessed based on their experience, interest, and potential to contribute to coach and umpire education. Successful applicants will be notified following the EOI process.

This initiative aims to empower women to take the next step in their development and play an active role in shaping the future of coaching and umpiring in our sport.

Why complete the Foundation course? (Level 1)

The FIH Foundation Course (Level 1) is a key step within the coaching and officiating pathways, enabling you to progress yuor understanding for Level 2. It prepares you to support and develop others by delivering high-quality learning experiences aligned with national and international standards.

Completing the course opens opportunities to become involved in coach and umpire education, strengthens leadership and communication skills, and allows you to contribute directly to the growth and sustainability of hockey pathways at club and regional levels.

Why complete the Development course? (Level 2)

The Development Course (Level 2) progresses understanding within the coaching and officiating pathways, designed for individuals ready to deepen their knowledge and apply it in more complex, game-based environments. The course builds on foundational skills and focuses on effective decision-making, game understanding (from level 1), and consistent application at a higher level of participation.

Completing the Level 2 Development Course strengthens your confidence and capability, prepares you for involvement at higher levels of competition, and supports your continued progression within the coaching or umpiring pathway. It also opens opportunities for further advancement into specialist and education roles within the hockey system as well as opportunities for potential National Championship panel selection.

 

The Level 1 course is scheduled to run on the 10th March, the Level 2 course is currently TBA but will run shortly after level 1 has concluded. 

TO courses are also TBA but will be sent out once confirmed.
